VIVO

Last night, after an after work retirement party, Phil and I headed to VIVO for a late dinner.  It was just before 10 pm and Nikko usually works there until 10:30 pm or 11:30 pm so we figured we would go and eat rather than going home and returning to pick him up.

VIVO is a fantastic, high end Italian restaurant that serves high quality Italian food "family style".  It is VERY PRICEY for two people but for a group of four to share I would highly recommend it.  The food is excellent, the ambiance is great and it's just fun!  The kitchen is open to the restaurant with 20 seats at the "Chef's Table" in front of the kitchen to watch the great Chefs.

We enjoyed the Beef Tenderloin with Caesar Salad.  The beef was cooked a perfect medium rare and was as tender as can be.  The lemon mascarpone that was served with it was not as good, in my opinion, as the mascarpone that was served the last time we were there but I don't know what that one was but it was excellent on the steak.  The salad was slightly overdressed for my liking but still very good.  The service was excellent.

Chef Michael came out and talked to us during our visit which was a real treat.  He has agreed to apprentice Nikko as a Chef for the next year through the Registered Apprenticeship Program and it will count towards his Grade 12 credits as well.  Very exciting!
