80 Flavours Ice Cream

They serve Chapman's Ice Cream - $4 for a single scoop, $6 for a double scoop, $1 extra for a waffle cone.  We tried four different flavors today - Pistachio, Cream Soda Float, Orange Cream Swirl and Cookie Dough.  They were all good.  It's hard to find Pistachio so that is always my go to flavor but the Cream Soda Float was really good too!

Beijing Dim Sum

Finally made it here today for a Sunday Dim Sum lunch.  While I was craving Dim Sum, it was hard to leave a beautiful, sunny day to go inside to a dark and dungy room.  Will likely save future visits for rainy or wintery days.  It was very busy when we went.  The bathrooms were dirty and the area leading to the washrooms was cluttered with dirty dishes.

But on to the food.  There was NOTHING memorable.  Everything was just okay at best.  Some of the food was very cold by the time it reached us.  I was hoping to try some new dishes but there was just the same old stuff coming around again and again.  The prices were good and in line with Jumbo Dim Sum's prices which are both cheaper than Tasty Noodle.  We likely won't return though cuz the food was just okay and the atmosphere was not good.

Earl's - Terra Losa

I was told that their Clam Chowder is absolutely excellent so I had to go for lunch to try it.  It was good but nothing extraordinary.  My friend had the Chicken, Brie and Fig sandwich on a ciabatta bun which she says is excellent.

They have a great patio and it was nice to sit outside on a sunny day.

Unfortunately, our service was less then efficient - but I was in no rush to get back to work for the afternoon so it was all good!

Royal Pizza - Saddleback Road

When we first moved to Edmonton we tried to order from Royal Pizza and was told that there are "no substitutions" to their pizzas so we skipped ordering.  The other day a friend said that was no longer true so we ordered from Royal tonight - only to find that they still have a no substitutions policy.  Oh well, we found a couple pizzas we liked and ordered two larges (these are 12" pizzas - not quite the large size that we're used to).  While the crust is good and the pizzas come with a decent amount of cheese and toppings, we didn't find it was worth the $52 price for two pizzas which is significantly higher than other places that we normally order from.  The above pizza is the Fred's Special with Ham, Pepperoni, Pineapple and Mushrooms.  The below is the Donair Pizza with donair meat, tomatoes, onions and a side of tzatziki (no donair sauce).  Nothing out of this world so we probably won't order from here again.  Oh, and I didn't like how they cut the pizza in squares!

McDonald's McLobster

A friend went out at lunch today and picked us up each one of these to try today.

So let me start by saying that it goes without saying that I'm disappointed that 1/4 of my bun has no lobster on it.  Having said that, when I spread the lobster out there is a fairly generous amount.  The lobster is good but the dressing is slightly too lemony.  It's stuffed with celery and placed on a bed of lettuce.  It was okay, not great, but worth trying during the two weeks that we have it in Alberta as a new, unique and different option.

The Keg - Terra Losa

We always love The Keg so when I was craving King Crab and had to find a place for Father's Day dinner this was the perfect choice!  It actually turned out even more perfect than planned.  While I expected a long lineup and wait, we were quickly seated on the patio, in the sunshine on a lovely evening.  It was perfect!  Their Danzante Pinot Grigio for $28 a bottle is an excellent wine at an excellent deal.  And they had a $45 table d'hote menu for Father's Day which included your choice of salad, entrĂ©e and dessert.  My husband had the steak which was great and we loaded up our already stuffed baked potatoes.  They comped our two appetizers of Baked Garlic Shrimp and Mushrooms Neptune which was greatly appreciated.  The service from Samantha was excellent and the consistency of the food at The Keg is great.

Browns Socialhouse - Again!

So this has become "the girls" regular spot for Thursday night drinks - due to their $20 bottles of wine!

But tonight I also enjoyed one of the best dishes I've had in a long time - the Blackened Chicken Won Ton Bowl.  This is absolutely delicious!  The broth was super tasty filled with pork and shrimp won tons, roasted corn, bean sprouts and noodles.  The broth had a real nice flavor and a bit of spice to it - really good!

My friends also enjoyed the Nachos

And the Quesadillas

And another friend enjoyed the Chicken and Shrimp Pad Thai.

But for me it was all about that Blackened Chicken Won Ton Bowl.

Bully Food Truck at Porka Palooza

The Bully Food Truck has quickly become one of our favorites this summer.  We go every Wednesday night to the Southwest Edmonton Farmer's Market where they are every week and try a different food item off their truck.  Today at Porka Palooza we were able to try the coveted "Bully Bomb".  And it was the Bomb!!

Tres Carnales at Porka Palooza

I was thrilled to get a chance to try Tres Carnales at Porka Palooza.  Their food, of course, does not disappoint.  We had the tacos and the candied bacon guacamole with chips.  It was excellent!  And when the wind picked up and blew our tortilla chips away they happily replaced them.  We will definitely have to make a trip to the restaurant to savour more of their menu options!

Lemon Grass Grill at Porka Palooza

Finally got a chance to try the Lemon Grass Grill at Porka Palooza.  I have been checking them out for awhile and looked at their online menu.  Their pork sausage looked so good in the menu so that's what we tried.  It was good, however, next time I would try the lemon grass beef.  The Hoison sauce (one of many they provide) is absolutely excellent and should be tried!
