Wildflower Grill
We have been planning to come here for brunch for a few weeks now. We came downtown one Saturday but they were closed as brunch is only on Sunday. We came to try the Eggs Benedict Two Ways. The two types are (ahem, were):
red wine poached egg | maple glazed back bacon | bearnaise
saffron poached egg | hickory pear glazed chicken | choron sauce
Unfortunately, by the time we visited today they had changed their menus but hadn't updated their website and the Benny two ways is no longer on the menu. So I had the Traditional Eggs Benedict with maple glazed back bacon on vol au vent with hollandaise. It was good. The eggs were a little harder than I prefer but still slightly runny and the hollandaise was spiced with something that I couldn't place but gave it a bit of a kick. The side potatoes were AMAZING! They were served in a saffron cream sauce with gruyere cheese. So good! They also served a nice side bowl of fresh fruit and cream that was delicious. We were also provided with a complimentary selection of danish and pastries which was also a nice touch.
We sat out on the patio and enjoyed a nice Sunday in Edmonton. Our server was very pleasant. I also took a look at their new dinner menu and there were a few items that would entice me back (lobster crepes, duck a l'orange, duck confit, tenderloin with foie gras) so I may be back for dinner in the future.
