Palms Springs Trip - Brandini Toffee

This place is absolutely terrific!

 

 

 

 

The kids are great, the story is great, and the fact that they have now expanded into downtown Palm Springs in the old Follies Theatre location is just great.

 

Have one of their shakes with their toffee in it - absolutely divine!

I'm not usually a sweets person but we bought two containers for home and went back for shakes. And like I said, these kids' stories are amazing so make to sure to read about how they got where they are. And they have a booth at Village Fest that offers very good deals!

Palm Springs Trip - Kalura Trattoria Italiana

 

I really wanted to love this place.  I was dying for a good pasta and was excited to have a great table on the patio overlooking all the passers by at Village Fest. We took our server's recommendations and ordered the two pastas he recommended - the Rigatoni Pino and the Pappardelle del Cacciatore. The sauce on the Pappardelle was bland and not a rich cream sauce that I was looking for. My husband's was fairly good though and he was gracious enough to trade with me. We will give it another try though and I'll try the Carbonara. The service was excellent and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine - and, again, the people watching was excellent!

 

 



Palm Springs Trip - Riccio's Steak and Seafood

Loved this place! Beautiful patio. Excellent menu. We went for our last "patio crawl" of our trip and were not disappointed - except that maybe we didn't dedicate a whole evening here for dinner instead of just appetizers. I had the escargot - they were fine but when they described them as on a bed of spinach with pernod - I was really hoping for a strong taste of pernod which it did not have. My husband ordered the Beef Carpaccio which was excellent. I enjoyed a glass of their house wine (they have many varieties) for just $6/glass. I had the Pinot Grigio and it was excellent. They served the wine glass very chilled. Nice touch! Excellent service.

Palm Springs Trip - Aldente Tratorria

Best Italian we had in Palm Springs! I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and it was just excellent. My husband had his choice of pasta in the Four Cheese Sauce (he chose penne) which was also very good. We have been looking for this good of pasta for awhile and were not as satisfied with other restaurants we tried. This was excellent!

Palm Springs Trip - Hibachi Japanese Steakhouse

This was the worst meal of our vacation.  It was terrible! First of all the ambiance is horrible. It's one big open room with bright lights everywhere. It's like eating in a school cafeteria. It was particularly difficult given that we had eaten all of our other meals for the last couple weeks outside - but that is the price you have to pay when you love Teppanyaki. However, we are so used to the quality of Japanese Village in Canada and this did not come close to comparing. The steak was unchewable, shrimp had no taste, chicken was dry and overdone, vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. Our Chef was very funny though and did make our evening. The wine was also reasonably priced. Next time I think we'll try Kobe.

Palm Springs Trip - LG's Prime Steakhouse

 

Visited on our last night "patio crawl". It ended up being Wine Wednesday so we ordered a bottle of wine for half price and stayed awhile. We enjoyed the Scallops and Bacon and the Stuffed Cremini Mushrooms appetizers. Both were very good. Great outdoor patio with misters, great location for people watching and great service. It is pricey but the 1/2 price bottles of wine make it worth it.

 

 

 



Palm Springs Trip - IHOP

Was thrilled to find that they had an outdoor patio so requested a table outside. Service was quick and efficient. Their stuffed French Toast with strawberries and vanilla cream was absolutely excellent. They had great combinations that allow you to have a little bit of everything. We were a group of seven and everyone enjoyed their food for a reasonable price.
