We had a Groupon so we ventured out to St. Albert to try out Nello's. We had tried the South Edmonton location before they closed down and we weren't entirely impressed so we were a bit skeptical but went in with an open mind (and a Groupon worth $45 worth of food that we only paid $20 for!)
The room was nice enough, although my son thought it was too "open". I thought the ambiance was fairly nice. We were seated immediately for a table for three near the kitchen. Not the best table available but whatever.
The food was decent (after a little bit of a disagreement over the Carbonara pasta that I ordered but I ended up getting what I wanted) and it was good. It was excellent heated up the next day. My meal was coupled with a nice half litre of Pinot Grigio which was reasonably priced.
The guys each had a Veal Parmesan and a Chicken Parmesan dish with pasta on the side, half with a tomato sauce and half with a cream sauce. It provided some variety and an opportunity for them to try a few different things. They finished their plates! All in all our meal was good and the Groupon made it a reasonable night out. Not sure we would go all the way to St. Albert again for this restaurant but for those that live in St. Albert it appears to be a popular choice.
